New Rivers Press receives $15,000 McKnight grant

Minnesota State University Moorhead’s New Rivers Press has received a $15,000 operational grant from the McKnight Foundation to support the ongoing efforts of MSUM’s publishing house. New Rivers Press is one of two teaching presses in the country and its books are distributed nationally. Publishers Weekly recently featured New Rivers Press in an article called “Little Press on the Prairie.” The article can be read in its entirety at www.newriverspress.com.

Kate Wolford, president of the McKnight Foundation said, “The partnership between New Rivers and the University is a wonderful example of how nonprofits and academic institutions might work to advance their shared interests. We are pleased to continue our support and wish you the best.”

The McKnight Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life for present and future generations through grantmaking, coalition-building, and encouragement of strategic policy reform. Founded in 1953 and independently endowed by William and Maude McKnight, the Minnesota-based family foundation has assets of approximately $1.6 billion and granted about $99 million in 2008.
