Diversity of Art Project Info Meeting Aug. 13
A second meeting for people interested in the MSUM Livingston Lord Library “Diversity Art” project will be held Thursday, August 13 at 4 p.m. in room 103 (Library auditorium).
At this meeting we will get the word out, have further discussion, enlarge our group, brainstorm regarding who to ask to participate from community and campus, and set further meetings.
The project: Are you interested in helping to create diverse art for campus? MSUM’s Livingston Lord Library and Training Our Campuses Against Racism (TOCAR) received a Lake Region Arts Council grant to create public art that explores ideas about diversity from the combined perspectives of campus and community. The art will be a mobile “mural” and will reside in the Library but may travel to different campus areas. Magda Szeitz, an artist from the Fargo-Moorhead community, will facilitate the creative process.
The actual design and painting of the art project will occur in Fall, 2009, but we would like to start putting together a team of student and community participants now to help us in the initial planning stages. We are looking for anyone who is interested in participating: no artistic talent needed, just the desire and willingness to help us conceptualize the project and to make it a true campus-community partnership.
