Hispanic Leader Retires from MSUM
In his 20 years of working with students, Abner Arauza preferred to think of himself as a backseat driver.
The Minnesota State University Moorhead official said he let students take the wheel, “but I told them to drive around the potholes and pedestrians.”
Arauza, 61, retired this month from his position as associate director for multicultural affairs.
He’s leaving MSUM nearly four years earlier than he expected, a result of an early retirement incentive that’s part of the university’s efforts to cope with a budget deficit.
