Heather Phillips Named Housing Director
It is with great pleasure that I announce to you that the future Director of Housing and Residential Life will be Heather Phillips. Heather currently holds the position of Coordinator of Residence Life at Iowa State University at Ames. Her professional experience also includes being a Hall Director and Coordinator of Residential Life for Academic Services. In these positions and others she has held, she has had significant experience incorporating academic support through the development of learning communities as well as holding the positions as the Dean of Students and Director of Academic Success Center at ISU.
She is also actively involved with the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I) and has consulting experience in Housing including facilities master planning. Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and French from Western Illinois University, and Master of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with an emphasis in higher education administration at Iowa State. Please welcome her to campus as she begins her new career here at MSUM starting on August 31.
I also gratefully acknowledge, with many thanks, the efforts of the selection committee including Lee Vigilant, Michael Parks, Diane Solinger, Nina Johnson, Steve Lucero, Jesse White, and Diane Wolter, chaired by Karen Mehnert Meland, on their very fine work and effort to not only achieve success with the outcome, but also to deliver a process that was well run on a very limited time frame.
