Three Awarded $500 Scholarships from Counseling & Student Affairs Program
Liz Kappel was awarded the Carolyn Schwenke DeLorme Professional Growth Scholarship for School Counseling. Kappel is in her first year in the School Counseling program and plans to work with administration to support existing and new programs desired in the school system to encourage development of the student as a whole. She has extensive experience with children and youth in a variety of work and volunteer settings.
JoAnne Riegert is a White Earth Tribal decedent and currently lives and works on the White Earth Reservation. Her interest in providing services to Native American people has been a lifelong dream. This opportunity to further JoAnne’s education through the CNSA Program will ensure that the mental health needs of the people of White Earth are being met for future generations. JoAnne is in the Community Counseling program and has many years of work experience in areas such as mental health and domestic violence.
Angie Ley graduated from MSUM with a B.A. in Psychology. She believes everyone has the potential to overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams and she looks forward to learning how to guide individuals through that process. She is in the Community Counseling program and has experience as a sexual assault victims’ advocate and as a caregiver for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Carolyn Schwenke DeLorme fully funded the Carolyn Schwenke DeLorme Professional Growth Scholarship for School Counseling. The other two scholarships were funded via donations from faculty, alumni, and the CNSA silent auction.
