Dragons After Dark Receives MnSCU Award

MSUM’s “Dragons After Dark” has been selected to receive a 2008-2009 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Academic and Student Affairs award for Innovative Student Affairs Program. Awards were selected by peer Academic and Student Affairs campus administrators based on such criteria as adaptability, collaboration, and enhanced student development.

The citizens of Minnesota look to our Colleges and Universities to provide creativity, innovation and excellence as we continually evolve to better meet the needs of students and the state. The Dragons After Dark program exemplifies those characteristics that result in improved educational activities and services.

Recipients will be honored in conjunction with the Spring Chief Academic and Student Affairs Officers and Deans meeting on May 28 at 3:30 p.m., Hennepin Technical College, Eden Prairie campus.

Dragons After Dark is a once a month late night programming activity designed to provide positive entertainment options on weekends. Currently the program is held on Friday nights from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. A group of full-time staff and student volunteers meet regularly to plan these programs. The full-time staff represent the Office of Student Activities, Comstock Memorial Union, Orientation, Hendrix Health Center, Athletics, and Housing and Residential Life.
