MSUM’s Livingston Lord Library will celebrate National Library week with a lecture event featuring Terry Shoptaugh, MSUM librarian and archivist. The event is Thursday, April 16 at 4 p.m. in CMU 101.  Here is the web page with complete info. http://www.mnstate.edu/library/shoptaughlecture.cfm. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.  Dr. Shoptaugh will talk about his new book, “You Have Been Kind Enough to Assist Me”: Herman Stern and the Jewish Refugee Crisis.  The book tells the little known story of the late North Dakota clothier Herman Stern who rescued more than 140 German Jews from the impending Holocaust in Europe. Dr. Shoptaugh’s book is nominated for a 2009 Minnesota Book Award in the nonfiction category.
