Broadcast Students Are Tops In The Region
We already told you how well MSUM students did in the Region 6 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Mark of Excellence Awards honoring the best in student journalism for 2008. Thirteen MSUM students collected 25 awards in the contest, which included 39 categories for print, radio, television and online collegiate journalism.
Another interesting fact is that in the television category, including nine subcategories such as news, feature, in-depth, sports, photography and newscast, MSUM students collected 17 of the total awards, well ahead of St. Cloud State University (4), University of North Dakota (3) and University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (1). In the radio category, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities collected 6 awards while MSUM students collected 5 awards.
