P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship

P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund is a program which provides scholarships for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States and Canada. Maximum amount is $12,500. Eligibility must be established before application material is sent to applicants. Eligibility information is available from peointernational.org. Deadline is December 15, 2017.

Affinity Plus Campus Scholarship

The Affinity Plus Foundation is offering a $3,000 Campus Scholarship to one MSUM Moorhead student! Applications are open through September 30 and can be found online. Winners will be announced by October 31 with scholarship funds to be used in the 2017-18 school year. Questions? Research paper by Wisenden, undergraduate students accepted for publication in CHEMOECOLOGY

Brian Wisenden, Biosciences Department, and seven undergraduate collaborators, had a research paper accepted for publication this week in the international peer-reviewed journal CHEMOECOLOGY. Co-authors were MSUM undergraduates Mikaela Hanson and Whitney Shegrud, University of Minnesota Undergraduates Alexai Falkner, Ingrid Holstrom, Samantha Molitor, and Samual Willard, and University of Utah undergraduate Joshua Gillen.  Read the rest of this entry →

Melissa Dingmann Selected as Director of Scholarship and Financial Aid

After a national search, Melissa Dingmann has been named the Director of Scholarship and Financial Aid at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Throughout the process Melissa shared stories and examples that demonstrated her belief in MSUM’s core values of humility, grit and heart. Her calm demeanor and clear passion for supporting students aligns with the culture and environment on our campus.

Coupled with progressive experience in financial aid and having spent the last 12 years as the Director of Financial Aid at the University of Minnesota Crookston, Melissa brings MSUM a high level of competency and expertise.

Dingmann’s first day on campus will be July 31.

Honors Apprentice faculty mentors needed

Faculty mentors are needed for incoming freshmen who have been awarded the prestigious Honors Apprentice (HA) Scholarship.

The goal of the apprenticeship is to have the student work with a faculty mentor who can provide valuable, collaborative experiences in their field of study. HA positions can include a variety of activities, from research assistance and lab work to independent study, tutoring, and project or program development. Students can apprentice in either academic or administrative departments.

Gerontology student awarded scholarship from MN Gerontological Society

Leah Oien, a senior majoring in both Gerontology and Social Work, has been awarded a Gerald Bloedow Scholarship from the Minnesota Gerontological Society. In 1994, MGS established the Bloedow Scholarship fund to honor the lifelong contributions of Gerald Bloedow to the field of aging and to provide financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate students to further their education in gerontology. Oien will receive the scholarship at the 41st Annual MGS Conference on April 28 in Brooklyn Center.

Heads or Tails Raffle at the Spring Scholarship Gala

Participate in the Heads or Tails Raffle at the Spring Scholarship Gala April 8! For $25, you will receive a Scorch raffle paddle that will allow you to participate in three separate raffles during the event. Each raffle will consist of multiple rounds where each participant will use their paddle to select heads or tails. The emcee will flip a coin and announce the coin flip. End of semester reminders from the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid

As the semester comes to an end, a few reminders from the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid.

Last day for MSUM to receive your 2016-2017 FAFSA data is May 9, 2017 for students still looking to receive financial aid for this academic year including this summer semester 2017.

If you have already filed a 2016-2017 FAFSA and received your award notification but need to borrow loans, the last day to request a spring loan is May 2, 2017. Stop in or email finaid@mnstate.edu with your loan request.

Seniors graduating spring or summer term are reminded to complete Exit Loan Counseling online at www.studentloans.gov prior to graduation.
