Join us today between 3:30 and 5 p.m. in the CMU ballroom to thank Karen for her nearly 36 years of service to the MSUM Community. We’ll be celebrating her lifetime of achievements in student affairs and her Dragon Pride as we thank her for the many ways she has positively affected MSUM and the student union.
Karen spent many years in the student union, where she began working part-time as the Assistant Director in 1986. She was named the Director of the Comstock Memorial Union in 1991. Currently, she serves as the Interim Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.

Please join the Physics and Astronomy Department in wishing Dave Weinrich well as he retires from 31 years at MSUM. A farewell open house will be held Friday, May 9 from 2-4 p.m. in the Langseth Hall Atrium.
The MSUM College of Communications and Journalism welcomes the community to help honor MSUM professor Regene “Reggie” Radniecki at the opening of her photographic exhibit, “Photos by Regene Radniecki.” A reception will be held today from 4-6:30 p.m., Flora Frick Hall, Room 254. The exhibit closes May 20.
Radniecki is retiring after a long and colorful career in photojournalism. Her work has been published in many renowned publications, including: The New York Times, National Geographic’s World Magazine, LIFE, Ebony, Business Week, Time Magazine, Forbes, Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times, MPLS/St. Paul Magazine, Press Time and many others. Audrey Zube Jones, age 92, died peacefully at Tanbark, Jan, 20, 2014. She was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edwin Zube, Sr. and Alice Sethney. Her early childhood was in Wyoming and later she and her brother Edwin Zube, Jr. (deceased), moved in with their Norwegian grandmother Tilda Sethney of Twin Valley, Minnesota. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in English at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN (1943), where she met her beloved late husband, Dr. William M. Jones. She began a long teaching career (1943-1969) starting at Ada and Thief River Falls, MN; McMinnville, OR; Freedom, IN; and finally Beloit, WI. She moved to Berea, KY with her husband in 1969, and completed a Masters in English at Eastern Kentucky University. Read the rest of this entry →

Doris Walker Dalhouse, Profesor Emerita, STL and A. Derick Dalhouse, Psychology, presented a paper in August at The 18th European Conference on Reading in Jonkoping, Sweden. The title of the paper was, “Reader response and instructional implications: using children’s books about immigrants/refugees with struggling readers.”

Doris Walker-Dalhouse, professor emerita STL, and A. Derick Dalhouse, Psychology, has a chapter (chapter 1) in a recently published, edited book, entitled: Struggling Readers Can Succeed: Teaching Solutions Based on Real Kids in Classrooms and Communities. The title of the chapter is: Outcomes in Reading for Bryant, An African-American Urban Learner: A Case Study. The editors of the book are Nina L. Nilsson, St. Joseph’s University and Sandra E. Grandy, Governors State University. The publisher is Information Age Publishing, Charlotte, N.C.
MSUM Professor Emeritus Timothy Ray, who taught for twenty-seven years in the Department of Art & Design passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, following a four-year battle with cancer. Tim was a dedicated artist, devoted colleague and an inspirational teacher.
He was one of the faculty instrumental in developing the curriculum of study for the current baccalaureate programs in the department. He was a tremendous artist who was deeply committed to the development of his creative work; the legacy he created in those works will continue to bring joy and enrichment for future viewers. Dolores “Dee” Gregor, a GMW who retired from MSUM in April 2005, died Nov. 7. She served 25 years at the university.
FARGO, N.D. – Dolores “Dee” Gregor, 69, Fargo, died Wednesday in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Sunday at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo. Burial will be in Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.
Gerhard “Gerry” Haukebo, 84, Vice President of Public Affairs Emeritus, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, in his home, Pelican Rapids, Minn.
Visitation Date: Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Wright Funeral Home-Moorhead
Service Date: Saturday, Oct. 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Cormorant Lutheran Church.
A reception to honor Dr. Rod Rothlisberger, Music, is set for Saturday, Oct. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Studio 222, 222 Broadway, in Fargo. Appetizers and a cash bar will be provided. Rothlisberger retired last spring after 50 years of teaching music and conducting vocal ensembles. The last 17 years of his career were spent at MSUM, where he taught choral and vocal music education, directed choirs and chaired the department for several years. Read the rest of this entry →
