A campus visit is one of the most exciting parts of researching the perfect school. You can visit with students and professors, see the classrooms and residence halls, and get a feeling for the atmosphere and history of the institution. It’s very important to us that all prospective Dragons have the opportunity to get a campus visit experience, so we have been working diligently for the past few months to find ways to make our campus visits safe, informative, and exciting.
All of these precautions have been set in place with the guidance of the Minnesota Department of Health. We care about your health and safety, as well as that of our staff.
When you go to mnstate.edu/visit, you’ll begin by selecting a day and time for your visit. By limiting the number of time slots available and spacing them out throughout the day, we’re able to ensure our lobby, and residence hall show rooms are cleaned between each group of visitors. You’ll be asked to limit the number of guests you bring, and we respectfully ask that anyone feeling ill should please stay home.
The day of your visit you’ll need to complete our self-evaluation questionnaire. If the evaluation asks you to remain home, reschedule your visit for another time. If you get a green screen, you’re ready to visit campus! Please be prepared to show the results for each person joining you on the visit.
Once you arrive, text our staff and we’ll meet you at your vehicle. All meetings will take place in settings where safe distancing is possible. We’ve also begun installing plexiglass barriers in certain places so we can provide face-to-face service. If you forgot your mask – don’t worry! We’ll have some on hand for you.
Tours led by our Dragon Ambassadors have been optimized to show you the best parts of campus while keeping a safe distance between individuals. There are many comfortable spaces on campus for studying, lounging, or grabbing a bite to eat, and we’ll be able to show you how we’ve transformed these areas so they can still be used.
One thing we know you’re looking forward to when you arrive on campus is meeting with professors. Our faculty are excited to meet you, too! Whenever possible we’ll arrange for you to meet with them in person, but if that doesn’t work we have video chat stations ready for you to use in our office.
Our goal is for you to leave our campus informed and confident – in your decision to apply to MSUM and in our dedication to keeping the learning and living environment here safe.
