This unique interdisciplinary educational experience will focus on the delivery of healthcare and education to the growing population of a rapidly developing African nation. Students will benefit from the expertise of two instructors with extensive firsthand experience in Tanzania. On-campus meetings Jan. 24, Feb. 7, Feb. 21, Mar. 21, Apr. 4, and May 2. Travel to Tanzania May 19-June 8, 2019.

Highlights will include:

  • The Usambara Mountains, with some of the highest rates of biodiversity in Africa.
  • Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak and the world’s highest freestanding mountain.
  • Arusha National Park, with its varied ecosystems and spectacular views of Mount Meru.
  • Tarangire National Park, famous for its high density of elephants and baobab trees.
  • Lake Eyasi, located in Africa’s Great Rift Valley and home of the Hadza – one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer groups in the world.
  • Schools, hospitals, health clinics, and children’s homes in Arusha, Moshi, and Karatu.

Tuition can be banded with Spring 2019 registration and participants may be eligible for financial aid. This course is open to students of all majors but instructor permission is required to register. To do so please contact:
