There’s a lyric from the musical Hairspray that says “we’re the coolest kids in town”. In my biased opinion we here at MSUM are the coolest kids in town.

And trust me, there’s a lot of kids in town.

Fargo-Moorhead is very much a college town. Obviously, MSUM is here. Concordia College is just three block away. NDSU is just across the river about 15 minutes away. There are also two technical colleges in the area. This means that every August the population swells as students come back to school.

It also means that Fargo-Moorhead is a great place to go to school. There are thousands of other people your age so there are lots of opportunities to make new friends. You also have the opportunity to take classes at the other schools through our Tri-College University. The FM area caters to all the college students with different interests and backgrounds, which makes it a lively, vibrant place to live. Downtown Fargo has a bunch of unique shops and restaurants, and it is a popular destination for students on the weekends. And the best part is many places offer discounts specifically for college students.

Movie theaters in the area have $5 movie nights for students every Tuesday and Thursday. The bowling alley has free bowling for students every Monday-Thursday from 9p.m.-12a.m. Many restaurants will give you a percentage off your meal if you show a student ID. And that’s just to name a few!

Living in a town with this many college students is a lot of fun! It creates a great atmosphere and students are given a lot of opportunities to grow both professionally and personally.

Even though there are a lot of students here from different schools, I still think MSUM students are the coolest kids in town! ?

It’s a great day to be a Dragon!
