Students of MSUM music teachers excel at voice auditions

Several MSUM students associated with MSUM and MSUM music teachers won awards at the North Dakota National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Auditions held March 31 at NDSU.

Rachel Levy, sophomore, placed second in the women’s sophomore division; Lora Boice, junior, placed second in the women’s junior division; Shane Iljana, freshman, was a finalist in the Men’s Musical Theatre division. All are MSUM music majors who study voice with MSUM music instructor Robin Allebach. Marcus Woodard, a musical theatre major, took first place in the adult non-professional division, and Jonathan Casey, a sophomore at Valley City State University, took first place in Men’s Musical Theatre. Woodard and Casey are also voice students of Allebach’s.

Holli Richgels, a voice student of MSUM music instructor Julie Adams, placed second in the Women’s Musical Theatre division. Richgels recently graduated with a theatre degree and musical theatre emphasis.

MSUM students Holly Kaderlik placed second and Georgianne Rowe placed third in the senior women’s division. Kaderlik is a music major and Rowe is a biology major with a music minor. Both study voice with MSUM music instructor Jenny Dufault.
