Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) professor emeritus Yvonne Condell has been named the 2012 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year by the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN). The award recognizes Condell’s noble service as a volunteer of Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union who exemplifies the credit union spirit through dedication to, and belief in, the credit union movement.

She was honored at the April 14 awards banquet as part of the MnCUN’s annual meeting in St. Paul.

Condell has served Affinity Plus as a board member for 16 years. In that time, she has taken on various executive roles as secretary, vice chair and board chair. She is also actively engaged in the Affinity Plus Foundation, committing her time to its many initiatives and fundraisers and working to selflessly uphold its mission to promote financial literacy.

Condell inspired thousands of students for 40 years, 30 of which were at MSUM, where she taught life sciences and biology. She retired in 1995. Condell has been a member of education missions to Scotland, the Netherlands, Libya, Nairobi, New Zealand and the People’s Republic of China, among others. Condell was honored in 2000 with the MSUM Alumni Foundation’s Distinguished Community Service Award. In 1993, the Alumni Foundation, in honor of Condell and her late husband James, a university psychology professor, created a $150,000 scholarship endowment fund.

Condell completed her Ph.D. and master’s degree at the University of Connecticut and her undergraduate degree at Florida A&M University. She has been active in many organizations, boards and commissions.
