Students participated in Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM). A team, comprised of Shouvik K. Bhattacharya (Double major in Mathematics & Physics), Murshid Saqlain (Physics major, Mathematics minor) and Pragalv Karki (Physics major, Mathematics minor) worked out the solution for sending an optimal number of trips for river rafting, that ensures no two trips intersect their travel path and team members will have the best opportunity to enjoy the wilderness.

Graph theory and probability were used to solve this problem. Dr. Damiano Fulghesu supervised team’s registration and submission of the solution. Contest results will be published on April 29.
