Steve Lindaas, Department of Physics and Astronomy, attended the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) winter conference in Ontario, Calif., last week. A session and plenary on Animation Physics in Hollywood was particularly intriguing. Did you know that Walt Disney built a school for his animators so they could learn physics as wells as other topics?
Professor Lindaas organized and presided over the session “Effective Practices in the Instructional Laboratory” as well as the “Physics and Society Education” session. As the incoming vice-chair for the Committee on Science Education for the Public and past-chair of the Apparatus Committee he is involved in planning and organizing the next national summer and winter meetings.
