The African Student Union, ASU, presents African Night 2014 at MSU Moorhead. This event is scheduled for Saturday, November 1st 2014 at the CMU Ballroom. The ASU E-board cordially invites all faculty and students to share in our special occasion. The doors open at 5:30pm for booth presentations and the event goes from 6:00pm-9:00pm. A fire pit will be set up for to make smores and hot dogs and we will have pumpkins to decorate as well! See you all there!
There will be some new plants today! Visit the Langseth Hall Atrium Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to stock up on some wonderful plants for your office, home or dorm room. Plants range in price from $1 to $8. Tri-Beta will also be selling some cool new t-shirts this year. They have an image of DNA and say “Checks itself before it wrecks itself” The t-shirts will be $12 each or 2 for $20.

Minnesota State University Moorhead will celebrate Dragon pride during its annual homecoming celebration Sept. 22-28 with a wide variety of student, alumni and community events to coincide with the presidential inauguration of Anne Blackhurst.
Kicking off the week is a community block party 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 on the campus mall. There will be food, games, art and music by Heart & Soul.
Pres. Anne will put on her running shoes for Laps for the Long Run at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Nemzek stadium. To date, $1.12 million has been pledged for this fundraiser to benefit student scholarships. Alumni, faculty and staff, students, community members, and others can register to run alongside Anne or attend the event to cheer all on the runners. Details can be found at mnstate.edu/laps.
Distinguished alumni being honored this week will talk about “Lessons Learned” to students and community members at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 in the Center for the Arts Gaede Stage.
The presidential inauguration of Anne Blackhurst is at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 followed by a reception. Both events will be in the Center for the Arts. A viewing party will be held on the campus mall.

The Women’s Center, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Campus Feminist Organization are sponsoring the annual Take Back The Night Rally on Thursday, September 18, from 5:00p – 9:00p on the Campus Mall by the Library. “The Take Back The Night Foundation serves to create safe communities and respectful relationships through awareness events and initiatives. We seek to end sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual abuse and all other forms of sexual violence.” BBQ starts at 5:00p and there will be music and speakers. The event will end with a march around the campus grounds.
(September 12, 2014 8-11PM, in the ROC.) This is an interactive alcohol awareness program designed to allow student to learn harm reduction techniques when drinking. Free Pool all night, Nacho Bar w/Mocktails and you could win a GoPro Camera. It is sponsored by Public Safety, Moorhead Police Department, Hendrix Clinic, Comstock Memorial Union, Office of Student Activities, Greek Life, and the Office of Student Conduct and Resolution.
