			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Juniors and seniors are invited to join Tami Reller, chief financial officer for Windows at Microsoft Corporation and the 2012 spring commencement speaker, as she discusses leadership in the workforce, navigating employment after graduation and her experiences working in finance, marketing, strategic planning and technology. Reller is eager to visit with MSUM students to share her experiences and answer questions about preparing for life after MSUM.</p>
<p><strong>3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10<sup>th</sup>, CMU 227</strong><span id="more-15532"></span></p>
<p>As chief financial officer and chief marketing officer for Windows Microsoft, Reller is responsible for business performance, finance and marketing of the Windows and Windows Live Division, including the Windows operating system, Internet Explorer and Windows Live.</p>
<p>Reller has held a variety of leadership roles in marketing, finance and R&amp;D. She previously led Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS), which develops and markets Microsoft Dynamics products, where she co-led efforts to integrate Great Plains Software and Navision a/s into Microsoft as a part of MBS. During that time she helped to firmly establish Microsoft in the business applications category, leading teams in Copenhagen, Denmark; Fargo, North Dakota; and Redmond, Washington.</p>
<p>A native of Grand Forks, N.D., Reller earned her bachelor&#8217;s degree in mathematics from Minnesota State University Moorhead and her Master of Business Administration from St. Mary&#8217;s College in Moraga, Calif. The Office of the President, Career Development Center and the Office of Student Activities sponsor this presentation.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A celebration recognizing and honoring Dave Holsen’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Moorhead Knights of Columbus, 915 ½ Main Ave., Moorhead. University friends and colleagues are invited to this service.</p>
<p>David ’72 (mass communications, elementary education) passed away in April at Wiltshire, England. He worked at MSUM for 31 years, retiring in December 2009 from the building services department as a management analyst supervisor. He is survived by his wife, Jill,’88 (English) and ’05 (master of liberal arts), who also retired in January 2010 after 31 years at the university, most recently as director of international programs. They have one son, Ben, and a daughter, Katie.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Three finalists for the position of Interim Dean of the College of Education and Human Services are scheduled to hold open forums for the MSUM community. The forums are scheduled for April 26 and April 27 and all members of the MSUM community are invited to attend. These forums are an opportunity to learn more about the finalists and to submit comments on their qualifications to the search committee. The Interim Dean will provide academic leadership and coordination for the College of Education and Human Services and will serve on the President’s Cabinet, the Academic Affairs Council, and other University committees as needed.<span id="more-15044"></span></p>
<p><strong>Open Forum for Wayne Chen: </strong>Today, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., Weld Auditorium. Wayne Chen is a tenured professor in Mathematics. He has been the chairperson of the Department of Mathematics since 2008.  Chen earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame in 1987.</p>
<p><strong>Open Forum for Michael Siggerud: </strong>Friday, April 27, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Weld Auditorium. Michael Siggerud has been an adjunct instructor in the College of Education and Human Services since 2003. He has served as UniServ Director for the NDEA and Assessment Specialist for the Minnesota Department of Education. He was a music instructor and an assistant principal in the Moorhead Public Schools. Siggerud earned a Ph.D. in Education from NDSU, an Education Specialist degree through the Tri-College University, and an MS in Educational Administration from MSUM.</p>
<p><strong>Open Forum for Boyd Bradbury: </strong>Friday, April 27, 3 p.m. – 4 p.m., Weld Auditorium. Boyd Bradbury is a tenured professor in the School of Teaching and Learning. He serves as Program Coordinator for the Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction programs within the School of Teaching and Learning. Bradbury has served on NCATE accreditation committees at MSUM and has served in instructor and administrative capacities at several Minnesota school districts. He earned a Ph.D. in General Education from Capella University in 2005, a Specialists Degree from MSU Mankato in 1996, and an MA in Teaching from MSU Mankato in 1991.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Twenty-four students represented MSUM at the 2012 Arrowhead Model United Nations Conference, hosted by Minnesota State University Mankato in Mankato, Minn., April 12-15. Dr. Andrew Conteh advised the students, and co-presidents Marissa Peterson and Sarah Danielson led.</p>
<p>The team received numerous group and individual awards. Collectively, MSUM received more awards than any other university at the conference.</p>
<ul>
<li>The delegation      from Israel was awarded Best Delegation; delegates included: Rohan John,      Sarah Danielson, Marissa Peterson, and Hannah Salscheider. <span id="more-15056"></span></li>
<li>The      delegation from the Russian Federation received Best Delegation Nominee;      delegates included: Joshua Weatherspoon, Clay Schwartzwalter, David      McCallum, Kimberly Ehrlich, Angela Kettering, and Jessica Dalaney.</li>
<li>The      delegation from Israel placed third in the National Spirit Competition.</li>
</ul>
<p>In addition to the delegation awards, several students from MSUM received the following individual honors:</p>
<ul>
<li>Hannah      Salscheider was an honorable mention for Best Delegate in the Economic and      Finance Committee.</li>
<li>Clay      Schwartzwalter was an honorable mention for Best Delegate in the Political      &amp; Security Committee.</li>
<li>Rohan John      was awarded Best Delegate in the Political and Security Committee.</li>
<li>Sarah      Danielson was awarded Best Delegate in the Social and Humanitarian      Committee.</li>
<li>Morgan      Schieffer was a nominee for Best Delegate in the Social and Humanitarian      Committee.</li>
<li>Josh      Weatherspoon was honorable mention for Best Delegate in Security Council.</li>

<p>As Majors of the Year, they are honored at the National Convention at the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) Major of the Year and American Association for Health Educators (AAHE) Award Ceremony and Reception, respectively.</p>
<p><strong>Jeremy Newman</strong> was awarded Outstanding Physical Education Major of the Year.<span id="more-14990"></span></p>
<p>The National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) recognizes exemplary students majoring in physical education, sport management, athletic training, and the sub-disciplines of kinesiology from across the country through the NASPE Outstanding Major of the Year Program.</p>
<p><strong>Shana Levin</strong> was awarded Outstanding Undergraduate Health Education Major of the Year. The American Association for Health Education (AAHE) recognizes exemplary students majoring in Health from across the country through the AAHE Outstanding Undergraduate Health Education Major of the Year Program.</p>
