Longtime Minnesota State University Moorhead professor dies in hit-and-run crash

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – A longtime Minnesota State University Moorhead professor has died in a hit-and-run crash here. Ben Lin, 72, was walking from his home to an exercise class Thursday morning when he was struck by an SUV while crossing the street, said Capt. David Verbruggee of the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – A longtime Minnesota State University Moorhead professor has died in a hit-and-run crash here.

Ben Lin, 72, was walking from his home to an exercise class Thursday morning when he was struck by an SUV while crossing the street, said Capt. David Verbruggee of the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.

The driver fled the scene and police are reaching out to the community to find witnesses, Verbruggee said.

Lin retired in 2004 after 31 years at MSUM. His wife, Jenny Lin, also was a longtime MSUM professor who taught Chinese and East Asian Studies.
